Belgium, November 10, 2025As Europe’s festival season burst into life, production teams behind the continent’s biggest stages faced one of live entertainment’s toughest challenges: managing fast-paced technical changeovers in mission-critical environments.

Bringing network stability and flexibility to the heart of live events

From switching between guest consoles and house desks, to running visualizer sessions during the day and merging networks on the fly, timing, reliability and ease of use were everything. That’s where LumiCore came in.

Deployed at leading festivals such as Glastonbury, Rock Werchter, Best Kept Secret, Rock am Ring, Pukkelpop and many more, LumiCore proved itself as a seamless, redundant network control solution, supporting top-tier artists and the expert crews behind them.

LumiCore: designed for high stakes show control

LumiCore is a powerful networked processor that enables instant, isolated switching between multiple lighting consoles or VLANs. Whether accommodating several touring acts in a single day or balancing FOH and guest desks on the same network, LumiCore guarantees system integrity and effortless operation.

Key benefits include:
One-touch switching between house and guest consoles, no manual cable patching or risk of IP conflicts, visualizer support during the day without interrupting the network, full redundancy with dual LumiCore units, and multi-VLAN support for complex festival setups.

Together with GigaCore switches and LumiNode DMX engines, LumiCore provides the foundation for a reliable, scalable and easy-to-deploy control network. It is trusted by the world’s top production companies and touring professionals; a trust earned in live environments where failure has never been an option.

In the field: LumiCore at major European festivals

Glastonbury Festival: Pyramid Stage

At the legendary Pyramid Stage, Neg Earth deployed an extensive Luminex network to manage one of the world’s most iconic festival productions.

Setup highlights:
37 GigaCore switches distributed between FOH and 11 delay towers, 26 LumiNode DMX nodes, and 2 LumiCore 64 devices for lighting control and switching.

LumiCore enabled six completely isolated guest lighting networks, giving artists such as Olivia Rodrigo, The 1975, Raye, Biffy Clyro and Rod Stewart the freedom to pre-program their sets without risk. During the day, bands could connect, test and visualize their show without disturbing the running system.

The changeover? A single button press. Full redundancy was ensured with two identically configured LumiCore running with different output priorities.

“Luminex series, and particularly the LumiCore product, were instrumental in managing the complex network that is the Pyramid Lighting Network. With many LDs coming and going, the LumiCore system gave us peace of mind that one artist would never interfere with another’s show. Araneo was also extremely useful for monitoring and diagnosing issues early, as well as showing us what was connected at any given time. The support from Luminex was top notch, it really feels like they stand behind their products.” – Tom Bexon, System Tech, Neg Earth

Rock Werchter: The Barn

In the 20,000-capacity indoor venue The Barn, Belgium’s Rock Werchter relied on Luminex for both lighting and audio networks. Over four days and 24 acts, including Iggy Pop, Goose, Underworld, London Grammar, Elbow and Rüfüs du Sol, Luminex ensured seamless switching and rock-solid performance.

Setup highlights:
5 GigaCore 20t, 2 LumiCore 64, 20 universes via Luminex, and complete audio-over-IP via Milan/AVB and Dante. LumiCore handled five isolated guest VLANs, enabling lightning-fast console switching. Meanwhile, GigaCore switches carried the full audio transport for both The Barn and the Main Stage. Touring acts such as Linkin Park, Noah Kahan and Simple Minds even brought their own Luminex gear, underscoring its reputation in high-end touring.

“For me, Luminex is where networking and convenience come together. This summer, we found our VLAN of dreams: clearly separated, perfectly connected.” – Anne-Sophie Depickere, System Tech, PRG

Best Kept Secret: Main Stage and Two Stage

Known for its artistic curation and impeccable production, Best Kept Secret featured Luminex systems on both the Main and Two stages. On the Main Stage, LumiCore enabled reliable switching between the house desk and three guest consoles, while also managing audience light merging. Operator Toon Mertens (Phlippo) relied on Luminex across both stages.

Main Stage setup:

2 GigaCore 16 RFO, 1 GigaCore 16XT, 3 LumiNode 12, 1 LumiCore 64 and 12 DMX Split2.10.

On the Two Stage, LumiCore supported switching between the house desk and six guest consoles.

Two Stage setup:
2 GigaCore 16XT, 1 LumiNode 12 and 1 LumiCore 32.

“Many people wonder how we bring the ‘magic’ to life during our shows. For me, LumiCore is my silent power, a reliable assistant that solves complex challenges quickly, efficiently and with pleasure.” – Toon Mertens, Freelance Light & System Tech

Pukkelpop: Main Stage and the Wave

Pukkelpop is one of Belgium’s famous festivals, with over 248.000 visitors spread over four days. Located just 20 minutes from our headquarters, it made perfect sense for Luminex and our technology to be used at the festival. Our solutions have been deployed at various locations, including the Main stage, the Wave (lighting) and the Marquee (audio).

The Main stage, where artists such as Chase and Status, Queens of the Stone Age, The Prodigy and Chappel Roan were on the line-up, network operated via GigaCore 20t and GigaCore 18t network switches. Besides that, two LumiCore 64’s network processors have been used.

In the Wave, until last year known as the Dance hall, two units of the LumiCore 64 were used to switch between the House desk and five guest desks, in combination with several GigaCore 20t units.

The complete lighting network has been designed based on Luminex GigaCore, LumiNode & LumiCore solutions. For audio as well, GigaCore products have been used in the Marquee.

We were delighted to see that major artists and bands rely on our products. As we have spotted our products in the tour packages of Chappel Roan, Justice, The Last Dinner Party, Oscar and the Wolf and The Prodigy, we can only conclude that quality acts prefer to use reliable, quality solutions.

Rock am Ring: Utopia and Mandora Stages

At Germany’s Rock am Ring, Luminex powered both the Utopia and Mandora stages where the devices were provided by TDA Clair Germany in a system designed and operated by Zweinulleins. On Mandora, LumiCore enabled switching between the house console and six guest desks, while the Utopia stage also relied on LumiCore for rapid changeovers and isolated VLANs.

A standout moment came when The Prodigy arrived with their own trusted Luminex gear, including two GigaSwitches discontinued over a decade ago yet still performing flawlessly. This highlighted not only the long-term durability of Luminex products, but also the confidence top-tier acts place in them.

Another globetrotting device…

Across all these festivals, Glastonbury, Rock Werchter, Best Kept Secret and Rock am Ring, another piece of Luminex equipment became a legend: the Luminex fridge. Travelling from backstage to backstage, it, in true Luminex fashion, reliably delivered refreshments when they were needed most.

In conclusion

From one-day showcases to multi-day mega festivals, LumiCore empowers crews with fast, reliable and isolated console switching, helping them work faster, with less stress and zero compromise. From Neg Earth’s precision at Glastonbury, to PRG’s integration at Werchter, to Phlippo and Zweinulleins’ confidence on stage, Luminex is not just supporting live shows. It is powering them.
