Genk, December 18, 2025 – “De Warmste Week” is a week-long live broadcast event that demands absolute reliability across audio, video and communication networks. By deploying a Luminex-based network infrastructure, the production team can maintain seamless operation, uninterrupted communication and stable audio transport throughout the entire week, ensuring a flawless broadcast experience from start to finish.
Background
De Warmste Week is an annual solidarity campaign organized by the Belgian public broadcaster VRT during the week leading up to Christmas. This initiative inspires people across Flanders to take action and contribute to positive social impact.
Over seven days, broadcasters from Studio Brussel and MNM create continuous live radio from a central location in Flanders, while thousands of individuals, groups and organizations host fundraising events and initiatives to support a chosen charitable theme each year. The funds raised during De Warmste Week are funneled into the DWW Fund and distributed to a wide range of concrete projects that address pressing societal challenges.
Supported by radio, television and online coverage, De Warmste Week has grown into one of the most impactful and widely embraced charity movements in Belgium, combining heart-warming stories, community involvement, and creative fundraising activities that resonate with people of all ages.
In 2025, De Warmste Week supports people with “invisible diseases”, conditions that are not immediately apparent to the outside world.
Challenge
De Warmste Week is a high-pressure broadcast event that runs continuously for an entire week, requiring a technical infrastructure that remains fully operational 24/7 without interruptions, errors, or downtime. In this live broadcast environment, absolute reliability is essential, as any network failure would immediately impact audio, video, or communication workflows on air.
The setup combines multiple critical systems, including full audio and video production control, Dante-based audio networking, and Riedel Bolero intercom communication. One of the key challenges is managing the complexity of interconnecting the sound studio with the video and productions trucks, while ensuring seamless, deterministic data flow across all departments. Coordinating these interconnected networks in a dynamic broadcast setting demanded a robust, transparent, and easily manageable infrastructure capable of handling both real-time media transport and mission-critical control traffic without compromises.
Solution & results
To meet the demanding requirements of a continuous, week-long live broadcast, Luminex has been deployed as a robust and flexible network infrastructure tailored to the different technical zones of De Warmste Week. In the video and production trucks, GigaCore 30i and GigaCore 18t switches form the backbone of the control and distribution network, ensuring reliable connectivity for video, control and auxiliary data flows in a compact, mobile environment.
Inside the studio, the network was built around three GigaCore 16XT switches and three GigaCore 26i switches, creating a high-performance, fully redundant setup capable of handling the event’s complex audio and production workflows. The GigaCore 26i units are dedicated to Dante traffic audio, providing deterministic performance and stable low-latency transport for mission-critical audio signals. One GigaCore 16XT is specifically assigned to the Riedel Bolero intercom system, guaranteeing clear and uninterrupted communication between production teams at all times.
This network architecture ensures seamless interconnection between studio and broadcast vehicles, while maintaining full control, visibility and operational stability throughout the entire event.
Conclusion
With a broadcast-grade network, built on Luminex GigaCore switches, De Warmste Week benefits from a stable, flexible and future-proof infrastructure, capable of supporting continuous live production without compromises. The successful deployment demonstrates how Luminex solutions empower broadcast and live event professionals to manage complex workflows with confidence, even in the most demanding 24/7 environments.
